  BACKGROUND

Maggie Schmidt was born in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1976, and lives and works in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts.  She received a BA in Painting and Art History from Northwestern University and has studied Architecture and Stained Glass.  Her bold and alluring oil paintings are created through the lens of her rural Midwestern childhood which cultivated a boundless love of nature and a deep desire for wide open spaces.  Through her dynamic compositions which allude to a never-ending scene flowing off the canvas and her painting process of layering color over color, Schmidt creates her vivid and modern floral-based paintings with stunning depth and intensity.  She paints luminous and ethereal images, rich in color and feathered with painterly vestiges of her dynamic brushwork.  Calling back to those times in history when artists were applauded for creating images of balance, harmony, purity and beauty, it is Schmidt’s goal to create modern paintings which are exquisite, vibrant, and beautiful.

Her artwork is held in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
